SunPine is extending and broadening its logistics collaboration with Wibax. The contract covers transportation and storage of products used by SunPine in their production of biofuels. The logistics collaboration is important from a sustainability perspective, where the product flows of Wibax and Sunpine complement each other, to minimise the mileage driven by tanker trucks without load. Wibax offers a logistics solution which covers all of Sweden, an operation involving about 20 employees.
Wibax has been a logistics partner for SunPine since 2010, when SunPine began their production of biodiesel at Haraholmen. Wibax transports tall oil on SunPine’s behalf, from paper mills around Sweden, and can thus use the returning transport to deliver inputs needed by the mills in their production. In this way, we avoid the issue of tanker trucks driving one way without a load, and provide a sustainable and efficient logistics solution.
The extended contract will also lead to an investment in a new tank at Wibax’ Piteå facility, as well as the construction of a new cistern in Norrköping, for additional storage of tall oil.
