Wibax has converted its Skutskär terminal from fossil heating to bio oil heating, supported by a climate subsidy from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. Many of our terminals store products requiring heated cisterns, a need previously met by using fossil oil for heating. Wibax is working actively to reduce our emissions in several different ways, and financial support from the Environmental Protection Agency through the Klimatklivet initiative has now enabled us to transition our last Swedish terminal away from fossil fuel heating.
A Finnish family ownership transitioned to a Swedish one, and our comparatively small business with about 30 employees became part of the much larger Wibax group, with about 250 employees.
The chemical company Wibax has managed to build a steadily growing group of companies, with sustainable development as their business strategy. Chemistry is everywhere, which gives us a wide range of options when it comes to adjusting our environmental footprint. Wibax continuously monitors the market to develop products with minimal environmental impact. We also work to reduce emissions from our logistics and terminals.
Wibax Logistics will invest in a total of six new 74-ton crews in 2021. In addition, we have invested in a combined transport package for chemicals where we also have the opportunity to increase the cargo weights for our combined transports. Many of our deliveries today take place with return transports, which has a double effect on the increased load weights and which in turn further reduces the impact on the environment.
Wibax is about to start a project in which we will be exploring the technology and concretising the potential of Augmented Reality (AR). We would like to see what this technology has to offer and how we may use it in the best possible way within our operations.
Wibax has developed a tailored training programme for professional tanker truck drivers, in collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service. Upon completion, participants are likely to be offered employment, as Wibax has considerable recruitment needs. Yrkesakademin in Luleå is responsible for the training, and the internship part of the programme will be carried out at Wibax.
