Wibax is laying the foundations for a sustainable future

The chemical company Wibax has managed to build a steadily growing group of companies, with sustainable development as their business strategy. Chemistry is everywhere, which gives us a wide range of options when it comes to adjusting our environmental footprint. Wibax continuously monitors the market to develop products with minimal environmental impact. We also work to reduce emissions from our logistics and terminals.

The word ‘chemicals’ is often associated with something harmful or dangerous. That is a gross misrepresentation, given that many chemicals are used for things such as water purification, and to achieve more sustainable industrial processes. To put it bluntly: without chemicals, we wouldn’t have clean water to drink, or clean air to breathe.

A key role in the green transition of industry

Wibax was founded in 1986 and now has a number of subsidiaries, all of which are actively working with a focus on sustainability, based on their respective areas of expertise. Everything from green chemicals to bio oil is found in our range of products, which we constantly develop to meet new industrial needs. Wibax therefore has a key role in transitioning industries to renewable and sustainable options.

“Our top priority is to contribute to a sustainable future, with the help of our products. Everything we produce, purchase and sell is connected to operations laying the foundations for a sustainable future. For example, we provide chemicals used to purify and adjust the pH level of drinking water”, explains Jonas Wiklund, CEO Wibax Group.

As close to customers as possible

Wibax is a distribution company, purchasing and selling chemicals, but the company also has its own line in production.  “We constantly work to reduce our climate impact. Part of this work is connected to the fact that our products contribute to sustainability in their use, such as water purification products. Another highly important part of our efforts to achieve greater sustainability is that we want to operate as close to our customers as possible, to reduce the need for road transportation”, explains Jonas Wiklund. “Our range of terminals play an important part in this, as storage in strategic locations means that we can be in close proximity to our customers, thereby reducing transportation distances.”

For a circular future

To Wibax, the future is a matter of becoming more sustainable throughout all areas of operations, and the processes connected to them. This includes not least our customer’s processes. Making every imaginable use of waste from industrial processes is an important starting point to achieve the dream of the circular economy. The core business idea of our subsidiary Wibax Biofuels rests on turning a waste product into a valuable, sought-after material.

“Helping industries transition their operations, with the use of sustainable chemicals and products, such as bio oil, is the most important mission we have for the future. Our bio oil replaces fossil fuels with a biological alternative recycled from another green process, which gives a doubly positive environmental impact”, says Jonas Wiklund.
