Wibax has developed a tailored training programme for professional tanker truck drivers, in collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service. Upon completion, participants are likely to be offered employment, as Wibax has considerable recruitment needs. Yrkesakademin in Luleå is responsible for the training, and the internship part of the programme will be carried out at Wibax.
Wibax provides training in areas such as tanker truck knowledge, vehicle maintenance and depot skills. The training intermingles with mentored internship, where students ride along in tanker trucks and take part in loading and unloading. The training programme concludes in the spring of 2021 and participants approved by Wibax will be offered a 6 month trial employment contract in Piteå or Skellefteå.
“This project has been incredibly fun to do, with high levels of enthusiasm from all who have worked with it. There are enormous amounts of competency and experience within Wibax, across the various areas where we have developed training materials and had mentors and course leaders of our own. Without this, we could not have succeeded with a training programme of this type”, explains Örjan Svensson, Logistics Manager.
