In addition to the team competition, the WiStep challenge ran an individual competition. Employees walking at least 10,000 steps each day during the two-month competition period were entered into a prize draw for a gift card valid at any sports equipment shop. Anders Eriksson is the winner of the individual competition.
“At first I thought ‘this could be fun’ but then some form of competitive instinct kicked in and I set my own target – to land in the top 20. In addition to the regular steps at work, there was at least one evening walk, some circuit training or some spinning in front of the TV on hockey nights. I noticed one positive effect, I hardly had any headaches between Sept-Oct. If I felt one coming on I went out for a walk instead of taking painkillers, and that worked every time,” says Anders Eriksson.
