Iron(III)chloride or iron trichloride, is a solution of ferric iron and chlorine. The product is mainly used for wastewater treatment but also for the purification of drinking water and the production of process water.
Another use of ferric chloride solution (FeCl3) is for etching pattern boards and circuit boards. Within medicine the solution is used as a hemostatic dental solution.
Anhydrate is very hygroscopic and forms fumes of hydrochloric acid on contact with water vapor.
